Supporting Elders
Regular health checks and catch-ups are run from Kambu Medical Centre to encourage good health and consistent treatment for elders with chronic diseases. Follow-ups are done in their homes and catch-ups on their home environment.
The ‘Living Strong’ program is also targeted at providing care and support to the elders – through exercise, diet and cooking courses and group meetings. They are also taught how to best manage any chronic diseases that they have been diagnosed with – including diabetes and heart disease.
An elders morning tea is now held quarterly – which brings together the surrounding communities and give them the opportunity to give feedback on the community and Kambu Medical Centre.
